Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
So much for Jeff Moorad saving the franchise while John Moores continues to get raped by his divorce.

Except John Moores is still in control.
Any rate, Jake just blocked the trade so this is a no go.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
No shit Sherlock. That's why I implied so much for Moorad having any real control.
How ****ed up of an ending to a marriage do you have to have to end up surrendering your oceanfront golf course, which is of no use to the soon-to-be ex-wife except probably handing it over to her new lover just to stick it to you?
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
Moorad will eventually have full control, though, genius.
He just doesn't have it yet.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
What's up with the double posting? Anyway, I am sure Towers was kind of pissed that Peavy did not accept the trade.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
eventually, meaning after they satisfy Moores' demand to cut the payroll down to $40 million.

But in any other functional organization, selling an ace for prospects eventually costs the GM his job.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
What? Trading your ace for top prospects is how GMs KEEP their job.

How dioes this prevent Moorad from saving the organization after he takes over?
It makes it harder, sure, but that's not what you suggested.

Hard to blame the GM when his hand is being forced.
Of course, I can blame him for picking up Giles' option, so it's not as though he should be completely free of blame.

The internet connection at work is retarded.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
no huge shock here. no way was he going to accept it. I thought he said before that the only AL team he would accept a trade to was Boston (maybe LAA, too?). Otherwise, he wanted to stay in the NL.
Re: Peavy To The White Sox?
He said he'd go to Boston, LAA, or to the Yankees.

The only thing the current Twins GM will be remembered for is trading Johan Santana for Carlos Gomez. Even trading Matt Garza for Delmon Young will be a footnote in comparison.

What's there to save after "the best pitcher in baseball" is out the door? There's even speculation about trading Adrian Gonzalez just to "unblock" first base for Kyle Blanks.
