That would be awful. Didn't they demand at least Tommy Hanson in return during the offseason?

Hanson was never on the table. Sounds like a good deal from what has been proposed.

    No.

Atlanta outright refused to discuss Hanson and trade talks continued anyways.

Tyler Flowers was the deal breaker that the Padres demanded and Wren balked on.

Congrats you now get to compete for a division u might win, no WS chance at all and you mortgage your future for it... sorry just doesn't make sense to me, they don't have any young guys to replace the old ones... I just don't see the fit...

Don't congratulate them just yet (even in a mocking tone)

    Jake still needs to approve.

If Beckham were traded, he would have to be a PTBNL under the Incaviglia rule.

Its not like Peavy is a half year rental here. 2003 Marlins, did you see them winning a WS with a losing record in May? Stupid to say they have no chance.

I'm kind of underwhelmed in what I'm reading on Poreda.

The White Sox are offering their #2 and #3 prospects right now. Neither the Braves or Cubs were willing to do that for what its worth.

Lefties who work in the high 90s like Poreda are hard to find. Otherwise you get Gio Gonzalez.

Agreed, anything can happen in the playoffs. Especially with how well the wild cards have done in recent years. It is a bit odd that San Diego has a better record than the White Sox right now though.

Poreda has 50 K's in 46 IP at AA. He also sports a 2.53 ERA but does have a 1.21 WHIP. I'd say two lefties is a good thing at this point for a team rebuilding and wanting pitching.

Padres are also 10 games out of first too.

Re: Peavy To The White Sox?

Peavy has stated in the past that he prefers to stay in the NL.
This deal would be interesting from his perspective. He leaves a very pitcher-friendly park to go to a hitter's park in Chicago?

    Poreda + Petco = $$$.

We'll see how it goes though, I'm not a big Richard fan, that's for sure.
