Not really. If the team isn't in contention, he'll cut his losses and let the rookies play out the season, and I don't disagree that it's the sensible move. Indians fans learned that lesson a long time ago when Bartolo Colon was traded.

It could be a risk he is willing to make given how pitiful his rotation has been. $5 million (which he won't get) is not a lot of money to eat. Not many available pitchers out there and that's what they need more than anything.
It is when Pedro wants that $5 million guaranteed, even if he gets hurt after 1 start. Larry the Lawyer is only willing to reach that amount in performance-based incentives. Pedro don't want no stinking incentives.
