reports are all over the place...some saying CarGon isn't involved and neither is Smith or Anderson. We'll just have to wait for the official deal.

yes, 2 picks mean that if he walks, we still get something instead of him walking and getting nothing. No, I'm not only focusing on that. His production for 2009 will be greater than what we give up and if we don't resign him, those picks have the potential to be better than what we gave up for Holliday.

It ain't happening unless Beane is willing to give Furcal the 4-year contract that he looking for.

Street has to be involved with Corpas sucking balls last year and Fuentes walking.

that's fine by me. Devine and Ziegler have made Street an expensive middle reliever that is replaceable.

I know its fine by you bud Just saying with all the mixed reports on who is involved, Street would have to be involved given the shaky state of the Rockies bullpen though a Street physical could **** that up. He lost a lot of velocity. Plus trading Street would help shed some salary for the A's.

we'll have to wait and see. it's no guarantee...supposedly 10 teams are in on Furcal so there is going to be a lot of competition for his services.

Ah, yes, so now everybody wants to have Furcal on his team. Quite the turnaround

I am still happy the Dodgers overpaid for Furcal. 2 out of 3 years were bad. Nothing has changed!

To be fair, my post wasn't a prediction. Just a baseless hope, and one made purely in jest, hence the smiley.

FOX Sports on MSN - MLB - Sources: A's close to deal for Rockies star Holliday

I think ESPN has the deal right, Holliday for Smith, Street, CoGon, and maybe a lower spec.

I think LAA is about to fall, No way Teix doesn't sign in the east with Baltimore or Boston, No way Krod is back, the OF is aging and I don't see the young blood in the system coming up...

Oakland was much better than the pyt., If they make it to the ALCS and then take the 2 draft picks are they worse off or better? I'd say they are better off, plus with Billy Beane drafting those picks are better than 50/50

No way Teixeira doesn't sign in the East? Angels definitely have to money to sign Teixeira or Krod so I don't see both leaving. Plus the Angels still have the better rotation. Hard to fall when you have good pitching. The OF might be aging (only slightly with Anderson now gone) but the middle IF is young and getting better. Don't see the young blood? Look again. \Not even Billy Beane can do better than 50/50.

    Re: Holliday to the A's

I have changed my views on this move from the A's standpoint. Only way I see this being a win is if they trade Holliday at the deadline and rebuild that way. Probably Beane's thinking all along.
