Mahay To The Phils?

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that Ron Mahay could be on the verge of being traded to the Phillies.
The two clubs have been having extensive talks involving shortstop Jason Donald. Donald has followed his breakout season of 2007 with another nice year at the plate (.308/.388/.509), but projects to have limited range as a shortstop and could be moved to second base.

Mahay would help any club. I had my doubts about him last year but he has shown what he can do and on a shitty Royals team. he has a 1.81 ERA in 54 IP this season. Royals do need someone to replace Grudz when he leaves.

Changing his tune from a couple of hours prior, ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Phillies are not close to picking up Ron Mahay.
It's unclear whether it's because of a hesitance to part with Jason Donald. The Phillies already weakened a farm system without much depth when they traded Adrian Cardenas and Josh Outman for Joe Blanton. If Donald goes too, then Pat Gillick won't be leaving his eventual replacement much to work with.

I love this time of year!! So many bullshit rumors to shoot down and so many "insiders" dead ass wrong. Much like KOZ. Gillick has a lot to think about.

Gee, here's an idea for all the general managers. Sign your veteran relief pitchers like Mahay during free agency...so you don't have to worry about overpaying for one in July!
