The biggest rumor I have heard so far this trade season is between the Brewers and Indians.
The Brewers offered last year's #1 (7th overall) Matt LaPorte for the Indians C. C. Sabatthia.

I have heard the Indians asking price is about the same as what the Indians got in return for Bartolo Colon. If that is the case I expect something along the lines of LaPorta, Chris Cody (bit more risk to the indians) or Jeffers, and another spect.

The Indians won't get that much for a rental. The Brewers aren't an Expos team that isn't sure it will exist in a year.
Yeah, but with Sheets set to leave and Fielder having an unknown long-term Brewer status (ie, if he'll sign) many are speculating that they will overpay before a bidding war even occurs to go all out with this core while they still have the chance to. That could just be idle chatter, but who knows. Plus if they both left for FA, the Brewers would have quite a haul in the draft next year to reload.
LaPorta and Escobar is what I last read.

The Brewers will only give one of those 2... don't forget mission if he leaves as an FA they get 2 1st round picks as compensation so they have to offer a more significant package...

I know, that's why I am not doubting the supposed payload the Brewers are offering. The package that was rumored was so good that some insiders (GM's, scouts, etc) commented that they (the Indians) would do no better. Win the war before it starts type of mentality... but it's so uncharacteristic of the Brewers to deplete the farm like that for many of the reasons mentioned or implied here and about that I don't know what to think.

I think the Brewers get this done next week.
