    Royals Firesale in KC?

Royals GM Dayton Moore is staring at numerous veterans who don't exactly fit neatly into the team's future plans. Scott Elarton, Odalis Perez, Octavio Dotel, Emil Brown, Mark Grudzielanek, Reggie Sanders and Mike Sweeney all could be candidates to be moved. ... Moore is certainly confined by injury issues with Sanders, Grudzielanek and Elarton. And then there's Sweeney, who is the remaining face of the franchise and who is a 10-5 guy (10 years in the league, five consecutive with the same club), meaning he can veto any deal. As for Perez, Dotel and Brown, it's likely Dotel has the most value

Some interesting names on this list for teams in contention. Dotel is indeed the biggest name and could give a good push for teams with bullpen needs. Perez is not having a good year, but may still be marketable. Scott Elarton has been shelled this season. And Sanders has been out of the lineup since May 2nd.

Anyhow, these guys are vets who could help shore up a bench or a bullpen for a contender. Would anyone be interested though?

Yeah it is. Its too bad for them though too. I wonder if it may be smarter for them to hold on to these guys and take the draft picks after the season.

I don't know how much value you can get when Sweeney is on the DL every year and he's the face of the Royals. Grudz is old as dirt, same with Reggie. Anything that'll help the Royals, go ahead. At least they're making some progress.

This team is much better than last year. I don't think they're going to lose 100 games.

Grudz might be old but still plays good defense and hits around .300. If a team in contention loses a second baseman or just need an upgrade for their bench, Grudz would be great (Loretta would be better). Sweeney is a big no! Same goes for Elarton, Sanders, and definitely Perez. Dotel would be a great fit in Atlanta or Arizona.

IMO Dotel is the only player who will get them any value. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

The only problem with Grudz right now is he is on the D.L.. Dotel will be the only thing that brings them much of anything in return.

Yeah, NL West batters taking late inning batting practice against Dotel would be fun.

It really is sad. A least they're better than the Devil rays. Seriously,Selig should contract the Rays, they have done NOTHING in their 10 year history.

Hell, at least the Expos were a winning team at some point in this century (2002-2003). The Devil Rays always have 90 losses
