ESPN says there is an option for an 8th year...I'm just glad it's over and that he's not with the Yankees or Angels...well, the AL altogether. The A's play the Giants every year though, should be interesting.
Hahaha he's good, but he got better than Soriano money.
He's not that good.
If he's worth 17 million, Carlos Zambrano should fetch 25 million when he becomes a FA. Cant wait to see that happen.
Wow! I mean I'm ****ing happy we got him, but man honestly I think we definetly overpaid for him, but I guess the bar was set when Boston signed Matsuzaka.
He got the same contract as Vernon Wells, except Wells didn't get the 8th option year. Zito is certainly a top of the rotation starter, I just don't think I would have gave him $18 million annually. Reefer ought to be happy now, looks as though Sabean may have done something right this offseason
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett
Congrats on getting Zito, I think he will have a nice career pitching in that Park. Nice upgrade, too bad some of that $$ couldn't go to another pitcher or hitter. Still, NICE job Giants.
I believe the Giants had the edge because I felt that Zito wanted to remain in SoCal.

Nor-cal.
**** Colletti. I knew Sabean would try and stick it his old Jr. Lieutenant for signing Schmidt away.
Time to go buy a Giants hat.
Thank God I don't have to buy a New York anything hat, whew.
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!
The 2074 MSL NL Gold Glove Recipient at Third Base.
Barry Zito will get a full no-trade clause under the terms of his seven-year, $126 million contract with the Giants.
The option for an eighth year at $18 million kicks in if Zito throws 200 innings in 2013, 400 innings in 2012-13 or 600 innings in 2011-13. There's a $7 million buyout for the option, so Zito is due a paltry $137 million if it's picked up.
Too much money, too many years for a pitcher whose peripherals are on the decline.
But hey, why not
I am excited that the Yankees or the Red Soxs were not the team that signed Zito. Gets old the same old damn teams get all the talent in free agency. I hope Boston and the Yankees beat the hell out of each other.

Zito had a better year than Pettitte, who got 16m, Zito got about 17-18m.
