McCarthy is no savior, but he's a long-term No. 3 starter still five years away from free agency, and it's quite a coup for GM Jon Daniels that he was able to get the 23-year-old using just one of his top starting pitching prospects. McCarthy will join Kevin Millwood, Vicente Padilla and likely Robinson Tejeda in next year's rotation. This shouldn't have any effect on the Rangers' pursuit of Barry Zito. It does make it less likely that Akinori Otsuka will be traded for a starting pitcher, though that still could happen if Zito heads elsewhere.
That's a nice deal for the Rangers.

I think Danks has #1 potential though, so it's pretty decent both ways.

This is quite possibly the most retarded move Kenny Williams has ever made, Todd Ritchie trade included.

Danks will be good for the Sox when their old rotation crumbles

How about give them one of the old guys then? In this market, Javier Vazquez's contract doesn't look all that bad, and he has nowhere near the potential of McCarthy.

This is not good. BMac better be worth it or its time to **** JD in the ass. Big JD supporter but his moves while risky, aren't panning out. I don't see how giving Danks and Masset for McCarthy is beneficial to anything. Honestly, Masset was just as good in the bullpen as McCarthy was last year. ****!!!

Look at McCarthy's production as a starter, not as a pen man. He's a player who needs his routine to succeed, but has shown that he can be dominant when he's given the right oppurtunity. Placing him in the bullpen was a mistake by the White Sox. The fact that you're not happy about this trade suggests that the White Sox might be getting a better return than I thought though.

A high risk move by both teams. Tex needed a ML ready SP. ChW had an extra and got a top prospect. At least these two teams are not stuck in paralysis like my beloved Orioles and their HATED owner!
