    Mariners Acquired Jose Vidro

Mariners acquired second baseman Jose Vidro from the Nationals for outfielder Chris Snelling and RHP Emiliano Fruto.
Vidro gets a club option for 2009 as part of the deal, and the Mariners are set to pay him $12 million of the %16 million he's owed over the next two years. It's a ridiculous amount to pay in cash and in talent for someone who needs to bounce back substantially just to be an average designated hitter, especially with Ben Broussard already on the team and Craig Wilson, Erubiel Durazo and Carlos Pena sitting out there in free agency. We're optimistic that Vidro will rebound somewhat, but it's still another bad trade by one of the game's worst GMs.
