Giants signed infielder Rich Aurilia, who had been with the Reds, to a two-year contract.
It's worth $7 million-$8 million. The Reds are set to get a supplemental first-round pick and the Giants' third rounder for losing Aurilia, a Type A free agent. The 35-year-old Aurilia would have been a decent signing as a third baseman, but the Giants are expected to play him at first, where he probably won't be much of an asset. Aurilia hit .300/.349/.518 last season, but that was just the second year of his career with an OPS over 800 and he was only at .276/.318/.437 against right-handers.
