Padres re-signed infielder Geoff Blum to a one-year contract.
The Denver Post reports that the deal is worth $900,000. At least Blum received fewer than 300 at-bats last season for the first time since 1999. With 274 at-bats, he still played too much for someone with such limited offensive and defensive skills. Blum hasn't posted a 700 OPS since 2002, and he's not a major league shortstop. The Padres could have done better.
