Rotoworld: ESPN is reporting that the Dodgers have the IQ of a group of turds

    From Rotoworld:
ESPN.com is reporting that the Dodgers and outfielder Juan Pierre have agreed to a five-year, $45 million contract.
We'd take Alfonso Soriano at $17 million per year first. The Dodgers likely could have re-signed Kenny Lofton for $3 million or so and gotten 90 percent of Pierre at a third of the price for 2007. Pierre's durability is nice and his defensive statistics have improved through the years, but he's had OBPs of .326 and .330 the last two years -- compared to .392 and .360 for Lofton -- and he certainly doesn't make up for it with power. He can only get slower as he ages, so he could be quite a liability come 2010 and 2011. Until then, he'll be little more than an average regular.

    HOLY SHIT

    9 MILLION PER
FOR SOMEONE WHO IS NOT GOOD
    UNTIL 2011
    WHAAAAAAAT

I am astonished and can no longer be a Dodgers supporter.

The Giants offered 3 years at $30 million. I am glad Pierre is not going to be a Giant. This ups the price for Matthews now.

When has McKain ever been right about a player whom he has a strong opinion on?

I have never been wrong when I have said someone shitty will continue to be shitty.

    Also your defense mechanism sucks.

It wasn't Soriano last year that's for sure. No others come to mind.

    Violence.

    I like it.

Pierre is eh, he could be a nice table setter, needs to cut down the K's.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows that.

pierre doesnt strike out that much one way or the other. last year was his worst at like 60. so he doesnt really need to reduce it that much. what he needs to do is learn how to take a few walks once in awhile.

Pierre basically needs to learn how to not suck.

He will probably be even more sucky in LA at that stadium though.

    That is all.

I was actually digging some of the moves the Dodgers made at the deadline, but this just reaks of stupidity. He has range in center, with a weak arm, inconsistent stealing ability and no power. He did bounce back with a better effort this year, but it still doesn't change the fact that he is a .727 OPS career hitter. I would of thought he would of saw a similar contract to Alex Gonzalez (which is another one of the worst contracts we have seen), but wow. Juan Pierre is NOT a difference maker and if I was pulling out that kind of cash, I would want a hitter who would totally change the team's predicated outcome.

I think the Pierre contract is quite a bit worse than Gonzalez', though the handicap of who the manager is for one of those teams could make it almost as bad.

Reminds me of the Furcal contract.
