Some reports suggest that it could be the Phillies who have already made gavin Floyd part of the deal.

So essentially, the Phillies and Yankees trade would end up being:

Bobby Abreu, Gavin Floyd and two months of Cory Lidle to NYY
    for
Gary Sheffield and a bunch of minor-leaguers to PHI

    doesn't seem that bad now.

I dont think he will be traded soon. He obviously has character problems and most teams would shy away from a guy like that whom comes as expensive as he does. He also has likely dropped off in teh talent ranks as well because we have not been able to see him play much this year. Not only that, we have to admit that he is getting a little older as well.

I just don't get it though. The Yankees have offered him a contract and he wanted an extension. I think he is money hungry and it will not help his cause.

Sheffield's ego and Philly fans? That will go well.

If Sheff doesn't like the deal, he will go into "shut-down" mode and become a huge disruption in the clubhouse where ever he lands. Personally, I would not take a chance on him at all. Let him retire or play a season in an independent league.

The Orioles reportedly offered Kris Benson and a reliever to the Yankees for Gary Sheffield and were turned down.
Ignoring that they'd be adding another player who has been the subject of steroid allegations (and for good reason), the Orioles shouldn't be rebuilding around 38-year-old corner outfielders. It's like they've learned absolutely nothing. According to the New York Post, the Astros, Padres, Rangers, Indians and Tigers have shown the strongest interest in Sheffield. The Phillies didn't get a mention
Holy shit! Cashman did something right. Good for him.
