Dodgers acquire infielder-outfielder Marlon Anderson and cash from the Nationals for RHP Jhonny Nunez.

Anderson has done solid work for the Nationals, hitting .274/.331/.423 in 215 at-bats. What we don't like here is that the Dodgers are also taking him on for 2007, when he'll make another $925,000. Anderson is no longer an asset defensively at any position, and while he has had a lot of success as a pinch-hitter, he's nothing more than a 700 OPS guy most years. The Dodgers would have been better off keeping Jose Cruz Jr. or Ricky Ledee.

Nunez, 20, had a 1.58 ERA in seven starts and three relief appearances for the GCL Dodgers. He's old enough that he should get a look in full-season ball next year, and the Nationals will find out then whether he's a prospect. Sep. 1 - 12:46 am et
