    Cards get Preston Wilson

Walt Jocketty is at it again, CRF!

Three days after being placed on waivers by the Astros, Preston Wilson signed a contract with the Cardinals on Friday.
Wilson could possibly platoon in left field with the Chris Duncan and spot center fielder Jim Edmonds, while he recovers from post-concussion syndrome. The Cardinals are currently 17-28 against left-handers. Wilson is batting .312 (24-for-77) against lefties this season, while Edmonds is hitting a miserable .158 (15-for-95). Aug. 18 - 12:12 pm et

Good move by the Cardinals. At least he was picked up by an NL team.

The Cards are desperate for help, so I guess this is a good move.

I guess it's an okay move, especially since Edmonds is a bit under the weather right now.

They needed some help and with Edmonds' situation up in the air, it wasn't that bad of a move. Taguchi has been horrible both offensively and defensively this past couple of months.

Wilson hit a homerun and stole a base in his Cardinal debut.

That'll propel them to a world series for sure.

Another good move by Jocketty indeed.

His good OPS vs. LHP is good. His career .800 OPS isn't too bad either. It's certainly better than the type of OPS' added(or not added) by some teams around the trade deadline.

Oh, and even though Edmonds has been out and Pujols was out earlier in the year for an extended period of time and now Eckstein might be, the Cards' offense has remained in the upper 1/2 in the NL. Their offense seems to survive key injuries well compared to other offenses. Sadly they are getting very close to passing the Reds in Runs Scored/Game to go with their already upper 1/2 in the NL pitching staff. They are also approaching double-digit over .500 in terms of Wins again. That's what the Cards do around this time of year. They come through with clutch performances.

And doing nothing would have been better. You're right. Jocketty got some more offense.
