Javy Lopez traded to the Red Saux

According to ESPN Radio in Boston, the Red Sox have acquired Javy Lopez from the Orioles.
Ken Huckaby's stay in Boston will be a short one. Lopez could share time pretty evenly with Doug Mirabelli initially. It's a better situation than he was in as an Oriole, but it still might not leave him with a great deal of fantasy value. Once Jason Varitek returns, he might cease being an option in fantasy leagues. Aug. 3 - 5:52 pm et

Everyday Dougie = Not a Good Dougie

Javy, even if he's mediocre, is still helpful and should be on the roster, at least til the playoffs

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

According to the Boston Globe's Gordon Edes, the deal sending Javy Lopez to the Red Sox will be announced on Friday.
It sounds like it will be a trade, rather than a straight waiver claim. If the Orioles are going to pay a portion of the approx. $2.5 million he's still owed, it could net them a better prospect in return.

The Sox needed him in order to catch up with the surging Yankees.

It looks to be a PTBNL, and if they're going to play Javy, they need to do three things

    A) Play him at Fenway (a ridiculous slugging split)
    B) Play him during the day (I think he's been a lot better there for some reason
    C) Put Javier Lopez on the mound.

Decent deal. Although Javy wont help alot, hes batting like .260 and has 8 HR's in like 300 AB's.

Fenway can do a lot of things for a hitter.
He'll be better than if they had traded for LaRue.

Yeah I forgot about that. Apparently they only gave up Abe Alvaraz.

Hopefully, a better surrounding will give Lopez a chance to get back to the kind of player he was at Atlanta.

    Go Devil Rays.

Red Sox acquired catcher Javy Lopez and cash from the Orioles for a player to be named.
In return for paying about half of when Lopez is owed over the rest of the season, the Orioles are expected to get either outfielder Adam Stern or infielder Alejandro Machado, though the player would have to make it to the club on waivers for the trade to be completed before the end of the season. According to the Boston Globe's Gordon Edes, the Rays may choose to put claims in on both players as a revenge tactic after they felt the Red Sox illegally contacted Julio Lugo's agent last week to determine whether the player would accept a move to second base and a contract extension. At this point, though, such a move can't hold up the deal. Lopez will be with the club for tonight's game against the Rays. Aug. 4 - 1:30 pm et

Please put Clement back on the 40 man and then put him through waivers. If the D-Rays claim him, they get a salary burden.
