good deal for LA though I love Guzman

Tampa Bay getting Guzman is better than the Dodgers getting Lugo IMO. Can't believe they got rid of him for a rent a player.
if they can extend Lugo it works out very nicely.
plus they want a World Series bad
I agree.Originally Posted by love_that_reefer

Im not the Genius that traded for Brandon McCarthy. And my name is certainly not John Gibbons...
Where would Lugo play? 3rd? 2nd?
He'll move to second since Jeff Kent's probably not coming back this year.
Betemit sticks at third.
I don't understand the trade of Guzman for just Lugo. Guzman should be good enough to acquire Soriano, if LA wants to do whatever it takes to win even if it meant acquiring rent-a-vets for top prospects. Or was Bowden simply adament about not trading Soriano?
I just find this funny.Originally Posted by McKain

I have the same reaction you do. Kip Wells? Are you kidding?Originally Posted by Providence A's

well, they are trying...I'll give them that, but that's not going to help them much if at all.
Of course they tried. JD probably did the best out of the GM's during the deadline in terms of getting the team into the most potential options, but Kip doesn't do anything for me. He may be better than Rheinecker, but I'll still take Edinson Volquez at #5.Originally Posted by Providence A's

Volquez had his shot in ST...he shit the bed....they're better off waiting until next season for him.
Rent a player? Just watch as the Dodgers will overpay him.Originally Posted by love_that_reefer
Man, how do the Rays trade everyone in their brother for quality prospects, but nobody else can make a deal for a decent guy under 25 all day?
Do teams just feel bad for them because they've never won 80 games, or what?
