    Rangers Blalock for Lidge?

ESPN's Steve Phillips said the Rangers have offered Hank Blalock to the Astros for Brad Lidge.
The two sides might be discussing various deals. Baseball Prospectus' Will Carroll says the Rangers have offered Brad Wilkerson and Rod Barajas for Lidge, Morgan Ensberg and Fernando Nieve, something that seems too lopsided for Texas. If the Astros took Blalock for Lidge, they could then send Ensberg to San Diego for Scott Linebrink, with either Linebrink or Dan Wheeler closing. The Rangers would probably make Lidge a setup man for Akinori Otsuka if they got him.
Great deal for the Astros as Lidge has really been shit this year. Hopefully the Rangers aren't this stupid.

Steve Phillips got beat to the punch. They are still talking trade as we speak.

The Rangers did acquire a catcher from the Rockies that could replace Barajas I guess...

That deal (Blalock for Lidge straightup) is probably a mistake in reporting. Steve Phillips isn't exactly the brightest guy on the block.

I'd pass. Leave out Blalock and it's a done deal for me.

We are only giving up one guy. The question is do we want to trade Blalock? Getting some solid players in return.

Leave out Blalock??? Well of course, then that'd be a lopsided trade. The Rangers need the pitching, and pretty much can move Wilkerson with Cruz available now. With Carlos Lee in LF, they can move Blalock's bat and acquire Ensberg, which is almost an identical swap. Lidge could be a steal for Texas, as i've stated before, need all the arms they can get.

Lidge is no steal for anyone. Has anyone seen this guy pitch this year? Did anyone watch the game tonight? Cordero was better than him.

    Brewers Doea this sound familiar...

Pitching, Pitching, Pitching!!!! That is what wins!! Still though, Blalock? Man, have I ever mentioned the Astros are NOT my favorite team, cause they always beat the dog snot out of my Brewers.... AARRGGGHHHH

Can't we wait til August waiver trade deadline for this one so maybe the Brewers could block it. HA! What a great idea!!!!

    GO BREWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lidge wouldnt even close in Texas, he'd be setting up Akinori Otsuka. No one has seen him attempt to setup games. Cordero got yanked from the his closer's spot and had a ERA of under 3 since April. Eddie Guardado got yanked from the closers role in Seattle and is now the closer for the Reds. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery

Blalock is 25 and signed cheap until 2009. I'll take that over 30 year old Ensberg who is soon to be a FA. Blalock, at 25, hasn't even hit his prime while at 25, Ensberg had 7 major league at bats. I wouldn't call that an identical swap.
