Carlos Lee reportedly traded to Rangers

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2532418

    Carlos Lee, Nelson Cruz, PTBNL
    for
Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mench, Laynce Nix

Pretty nice deal for the Brewers if true. Mench is a worthy replacement and he'll come cheaper and be more signable, and I've always been a Nix fan.

Great Job breaking this story lol, Like 2 minutes after I heard it. I was gonna post it but you beat me to the punch.

I love the deal, Hate to see Mench go but he just not a consistant hitter. Looks like we are going to be buyers at the deadline.

I am really torn on this deal. If the Rangers are unable to resign Lee then they are obviously getting ripped off big-time. If they can resign him long-term then I guess it's a good deal. Despite his very streaky performance I am a big fan of Mench, and I don't know how the Rangers are going to replace Cordero in the pen. He has 2 very good years as the closer under his belt and was having a solid year this year barring his horrible April. I think regardless of whether Texas resigns Lee or not, this is a much better deal for the Brewers than it is for the Rangers.

Unless Carlos Lee is going to pitch, I don't see this helping the Rangers win the World Series

Yeah, like the Rangers were going to win anyway this year. There just aren't any real good pitchers available that will help the Rangers do anything this year. What they need to do right now is improve what they can and wait for Diamond, Danks, and Volquez to be MLB ready. Then throw those guys in with Millwood, Padilla, and Eaton and Texas should have a very good rotation.

until they get a roof on that stadium, it won't matter as their pitchers will continue to melt in August and September

McKain basically said my thoughts on the trade. This is a pretty damn nice deal for the Brewers.

Looks like the deal is officially official, and it's:

    Carlos Lee
    Nelson Cruz
    PTBNL

    for

    Kevin Mench
    Laynce Nix
    Francisco Cordero
    Julian Cordero

Lee is expected to ask for 65/5 or 75/5 in contract negotiations.

Julian Cordero? Never heard of him. Of course I hadn't heard of the Clinton LumberKings before either. Doesn't look too bad though. He's posted a 2.91 ERA in 68 innings.

I wonder if Texas will be willing to shell out that kind of money for a hitter. Especially since they already have Millwood signed to an expensive deal.

on my phone i got the alert saying it was just lee for nix, mench, and cordero, but after the final deal this is a pretty good deal for the brew crew. although if the rangers can lock lee up, he could turn into a very good hitter in BPIA
i'm scraped and sober but there's no one listening

oh, I misread that...I thought you said you had never heard of "Clinton LumberKings" like he was a person...I missed the "the" in front of it...LumberKings would be a super last name though

Wow I do not like this one bit. I have never heard of any of the players we are getting and we got rid of our best home run hitter for no reason. We picked up a relief pitcher when we still have Turnbow. Granted he's not doing much right now, but then why not trade him instead? We didn't need help in the Outfield and we had a lot more players to choose from that we could have traded instead of him! Dan Kolb would be one and maybe Rickie Weeks? I dunno...All I know is there will be A LOT of irrate people in Milwaukee tonight!
