That was the best offer they got?
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?

Seriously? That was the best offer? I know Gathright isn't anything special, but with all the stubborn attitude TB has shown...this?

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

Gathright can't draw a walk, has no power, plays average centerfield defense.

His best abilities are to steal bases (which can't be done if you can't get on base), and to jump oer Lincoln Towncars.

And JP Howell can't pitch, your point?
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?

Howell had great years at A-ball, and then the Royals stupidly pushed him to AAA immediately, and then straight to the majors. He's coming off of a shoulder injury, he was a first rounder. He's got more potential than Gathright, at the absolute least, and the Devil Rays don't exactly have an abundance of SPs.

    He's another Matt White.
Jumping over cars > a pitcher who can't pitch

Howell already has more innings than White in his career, and he's already had better innings than White's were.

    He wins.

Gathright at least has value in fantasy leagues with ability to steal bases. Hey, Juan Pierre is hitting what, .250 and he still has over 20 SBs. Give the kid some ABs and he'll steal bases. If you are looking for cheap SBs on your team, give him a look.

Stupid, stupid trade, and Allard Baird isn't even with the Royals anymore. Sure, Gathright has the speed, but he can hardly get a hit, has no power to spead of, and he's not patient. He has no instincts in the outfield, no arm, and the only reason he is not a glaring liability is that his speed allows him to make many plays.

Howell does have potential, you don't become a first round draft pick, and a top BA prospect without it. However, he's was rushed from A to AAA, and then to the majors, where he had to have shoulder surgery soon after. As of June 2nd, Howell hasn't pitched since April 30th with a sore shoulder, according to a BA report. I would not have traded Howell, especially with his value so low, but thats the Royals for you.
