[RUMOR] Yankees to acquire Griffey; Bowden still after Reds OF Kearns

Dayton Daily News (Registration Required): Yanks after Griffey?; Nationals after Kearns

Dayton Daily News (registration required): "Ken Griffey Jr. shook his head, rolled his eyes and asked, 'Where do they come up with this stuff? I don't know where stuff like this starts.' ESPN.com reported Griffey said he would agree to a trade to the New York Yankees... Rebuffed by his attempt this spring to acquire Wily Mo Pena, Washington Nationals general manager Jim Bowden reportedly is asking about Kearns."

I would love to see both Griffey and Kearns go.

Griffey is done and Kearns seems to be turning into another Brandon Larson.

Anyone actually have the details, because I'm not going to register.

That might make sense in 2006 but I am not sure where he would go this year. I also do not know what we have to offer.

Besides the fact, I am not too high on him due to his injuries. It would be great to have a Mariner 1995 reunion with RJ, ARod and Griff.

So in retrospect, they will all want out of NY, in 3 years (one per year?). Just like the 95 Mariners. Yall should have kept Sojo lol.

    Sojo is a coach now.

3 years...that is fine frees up a lot of money if not sooner.

I think the whole article was posted on the Reds forum if I am not mistaken.

I wouldnt want to trade Kearns, still think he's just in the same boat as Pena. He just needs some everyday at bats to clear up whatever is keeping him from hitting like he always has. Griffey needs a change to maybe shake everything. The Yanks are probably about the only team that would be willing to trade for him and eat the contract.

I can't see the Yankees going after Griff until next winter. Remember the 200 million payroll. They will 1st want to get rid of some contracts such as Bernies.

I would not be shocked to see Brown gone after this season.

This would be a huge mistake for the Yanks to take Griffey. The Yanks are eyeing Juan Pierre for next year. Griffey is, sad to say, done. It would be great for Reds fans of course but not for the Yanks. Kearns still hasn't proved anything yet. The Reds should definitely consider trading him.

LTR, I don't disagree but the Yankees have made far worst mistakes than a Griffey instea of Pierre.

I would go get Pierre right now and find a space for him as high as I am on him.

Kearns has proven he can be a great player.

He is going to end up having a good year this year.

I'm high on Kearns, I have been for a couple of seasons now. But he needs to stay healthy.

No way this deal goes down. If it does, I will officially hate the Yankees.

Good. Another Yankee hater. You can join the thousand of others and hate the Yankees together.
