Question Looking for Help Setting Up An Online League

    Hi everyone,

I am still interested in starting up another league and was trying to get everything rolling but I'll admit, I'm a noob. I'm a big noob when it comes to setting up an online league. I have talked with Mission and he gave me and FTP and a site name to upload everything to but I don't know what to do with it. Essentially I am needing help from square 1 and would love any advice you could get me.

I tried getting OOTP 6.5 but it didn't work out so I was thinking of just doing this league with what I have, which is OOTP 18. If this all works out and we did get to run another league, I think this shows my inexperience with running an online league so I would ask for everyone to be patient and not get too upset, lol. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

If I can find some time, I can help you with how to use the FTP, either via in game or FileZilla. Leo should be able to help as well.

    Mach, sounds good.

Kingdom, you got it. You got 18? You gonna get 19?

I do have 18. A few of my friends do as well, I could even see if they'd be interested in a sim league as they are very experienced with sims. We often did that ootp challenge mode together and wanted to go postal lol

I don't know about 19, possibly. I really enjoyed 18, unless things drastically change, I'm in no rush for 19.

Yeah, I've been researching 19 and it doesn't seem like there is a whole lot there that is getting me really excited. I also really enjoy 18 so unless 19 goes on a really solid sale or something, I don't think I'll be getting it.

Maybe sometime when I'm not working a lot on either MSL or real life jobs I can get around to getting you some pointers.

It'll be a tad tougher on me since I work with 6.5 and all, but there's likely some generic stuff I can answer questions on.

And if you figure out the exporting business maybe you can help me if I haven't gotten around to that myself.

Does PA know about the exporting stuff? Or OM?

If not, I can try to get that info from the guy who ran the other league I was in that allowed it

It has been so long since I tried to do anything with the OOTP game. I'd love to try it if Leo can get it up and running though. I might also purchase 18 and give that a shot.

I tried following the online OOTP manual on how to setup the league but I am still struggling. I must be inputting the information that Mission gave me incorrectly.

Re: Looking for Help Setting Up An Online League

What exactly are you attempting to do? Set up a site to upload at?

Much of it is simply setting up the forum structure here. And the upload part is something local as well. Could very well just be not putting that in right?

I don't know how 18 works but I do know there was a weird thing with 6.5 where I had to put a / in two fields that basically (as far as I know) didn't mean anything before it'd work.

Of course, if you're trying for allowing exporting that's something I'd have to look into myself.

Re: Looking for Help Setting Up An Online League

Well, Mission sent the FTP info to me so I have the port, username, etc.. and I am trying to input the correct information in the "online league settings" part of my OOTP game. I will look over everything again and see if I'm putting it in wrong or if the / makes any difference.

Every time I try to "test" the settings it says it fails.

Re: Looking for Help Setting Up An Online League

I'm not sure what the screen on 18 looks like but if it helps at all here's my upload screen with the info.

I think I recall also running into an issue where I thought I had to put the entire url in the FTP server address but then it had to be just www.baseballslant

The red circled area is where I had to put the /s

Although looking at the names of those two sections now I may have to put something there for exporting should I go that route. I thought nothing of it at first since that was never a thing, lol

Haha okay sounds good! Thank you for the help.

Do I have to do something with Filezilla first or does that stuff come after I get the OOTP settings figured out?
