I'll get the section up and running. Refrain from any posting until I have everything completed.

Exporting in Porter's league is intimidating? It's more learning the game engine and all its quirks that bothers me. When we exported (briefly) in 6.5, it was quite awesome. (It'd be even more awesome now, because we could set our own minors lineups completely.)

As for a new league, depends on how many teams are in it. The smaller leagues tend to start with too much talent and it messes with the ratings.

Yeah, I liked the exporting part of OOTP 8. I could just never wrap my mind around the engine and lost interest.. Every time.

I'd honestly rather have a 24+ team league with some open teams than a full 20 team league.

I actually don't mind a few open teams if it means the league isn't too talented as a whole.

Liking a larger league is part of why I didn't mind going through with MSL expansion even though I wasn't completely certain of the activity of the new GMs.

Is 6.5 even compatible on Windows 8.1? So many programs weren't when I upgraded and it didn't look like it was.

Update on rosters: I've gotten the game updated to 2012, but it's missing quite a few prospects. The minor leagues are virtually bare, except for the ones that saw MLB time at one point in the 2012 season. It's a good start, but it's going to take me a while to get the rosters where they need to be.

Not sure this is a huge help, but if that's the case:

The problem I'm running into now is trying to remember how to edit players in 6.5. It's been so long since I've played with 6.5 that I've forgotten how to edit players, specifically current and potential ratings. In the newer versions, there's a built-in player editor. 6.5 will only let you edit everything except ratings in-game.

Yeah, I've never had 6.5, so I can't help much with that.

Re: So have we reached sim league saturation?

Ok. Here's the deal, guys. I don't think 2014 rosters are going to happen with 6.5. When I import from the Lahman Database, it has way too many bugs (players mysteriously lose ratings when they are traded). So we have a choice and I want your input on this, because I really want to make this your league rather than mine.

    1) Stay with 6.5 with as current of a roster as I can find (around 2005 or 2006)
    2) Go with OOTP 15 with 2014 rosters and all of that game's nuances.

I don't want to quit. I'm cool with whatever direction we choose. This is NOT me giving up.

What we could also do is start the game in whatever year the latest 6.5 roster is and then I can create accurate draft pools for the subsequent years until we catch up.

I like 1 or the last option you just said above, but that one sounds like a lot of work for you.
