    Dan Johnson

To fill a utility spot, would you rather go with

    Dan Johnson
    Mike Lowell
    Kevin Mench
    Nick Swisher
    Luis Gonzalez.. the outfielder
    or
    Clint Barmes

I'm leaning towards Johnson, or Barmes since he's in Coors.

Dude Barmes was filthy last year until he went down, and, he plays in Coors.

Utility can be whatever position, I don't care about the position. I have a spot open that I'm not satisfied with.

    Go with Mench.

Barmes will obviously benefit greatly from Colorado, but:
    he's done awful in spring
the only real things he will have over Mench are SBs (which he won't have many) and average (and the difference between .270 and .290 isn't enough of a difference for me to say "Let's sacrifice the extra HRs, RBIs, and Rs Mench will score")
Mench has had a very good spring
Mench hits in Texas, and the difference between the Texas effect and Colorado effect isn't leaning in Barmes's favor enough to overturn the innate superiority K-Dawg has

go with the big headed man.

    Good.

    Not as good as Mench.

Will lose at-bats from time to time. Swisher will need to get time, and he will get some of it at first. The A's have several more guys who need to get their fair share of ABs at DH (Thomas/Payton and I think they even have Kielty who will get some time there).

    Mench > Johnson > Barmes.

you have to factor in that Mench may be moved at some point though as he has been the subject of rumors all off-season. Johnson, while a step below maybe, isn't going anywhere. Mench is solid if he stays in Texas.

They want to move both Shrek and Dellucci? Or just one or the other?

They only want to move one of them, and all I've heard s that the one would be Dellucci.
