So head to head when Skrine, and Richardson didn't play, and Revis, and Mangold left the game early should dictate who really is the best team between the two. Gotcha.

a loss is a loss. we can make all the excuses in the world. if new england had edelman and aaron hernandez didnt kill 50 people and he was still on the roster, they probably wouldve beat us.

Aaron Hernandez hasn't been on the team for a few years now, so I don't see why you even brought him up.

just to bring up a point to show how ridiculous it is to talk about players who arent on the field. injuries happen. suspensions happen. thats the nfl.

So it's ridiculous to bring up injuries to players that are currently on the team like the star of the Jets offensive line in Nick Mangold, and if you've ever really watched the Jets and seen the difference between him being on the field and off, you would know how huge that was.

But you go ahead and bring up Aaron Hernandez? A guy who hasn't played football in 4 years. My god... I'm just going to stop reading this topic, because you're giving me a fucking headache.

you play with who you have, thats the point. bringing up mangold, revis, hernandez, namath, maynard is all the same relevance. injuries are the nfl. every team gets them, so every team can play the 'if we had...' game. im a little surprised that injuries still get used as an excuse in this day and age.

Winning your division should always and forever count for something, otherwise you may as well eliminate divisions entirely because they would be pointless.

Yes it leads to the occasional shit team getting in by default leaving a 10 win team out in a better division, but shit happens and more often than not the team that wins their division is deserving to be in the playoffs.

Just because you're one of those "same old jets" kind of Jets fans doesn't mean they didn't deserve to be there more than the Texans, or Redskins.

It's pretty simple that the Jets belonged in the playoffs, and the Texans didn't. One team has to play in a division with the Patriots who are a lock for 12 wins every year, and the Texans play in the worst division in the NFL.
Let's ignore the Bills loss for a second and point out that had the Jets beaten the Texans in week 10 they'd have been in the playoffs.

Now let's talk about some irony here.

Well, JJ Watt was injured during the 30-0 loss you keep citing as definitive proof that the Texans didn't belong.

    Just saying.

    Re: 2015 NFL Season

Anyway, the NFL's system is perfectly fine the way it is.

Sure, it leads to occasional scenarios like the Texans/Jets stuff this year but every system in the world is going to have its flaws and at the end of the day the NFL determines its playoff contenders on the field of play.

You're basically arguing for some asinine college football system where some possibly-biased governing body votes in the best or most "deserving" team or just blindly letting in all of the best records negating the entire point of having divisions in the first place. Just put everybody in one huge pool and send in the best records? Boring.

If only the Jets had Chad Pennington.

I'm sorry, I rather see a top 10 offense, and a top 5 defense in the playoffs than a team that had Brian Hoyer at quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't the greatest quarterback, but he sure as hell is better than Brian Hoyer.
