the most successful teams often trade down. It doesn't matter so much what your success to failure ratio is, but how many success you have. It's easier to get more with more picks.

But it depends on mediocre and great, and the fact it's not linear. The picks don't get progressively worse as they go down. Frex, the best players went 4, 6, and 12 in the first this year. There's tremendous value in exploiting that.
It does have a huge factor in my MSL dealings though. More picks = more chances, both good and bad.
trading back does not work.
neither do minorities.
