    Lee Roy Selmon 1954-2011

The Tampa Bay area is reeling with the news of the sudden death of the former Buccaneer. He was also an athletic director for USF leading the group that established their football program, a local business owner and patron of many local charities.

He had been hospitalized since having a massive stroke on Friday, showed temporary improvement yesterday but his condition deteriorated just as quickly.

Lee Roy Selmon dies at 56.

He had been in the local news earlier last week denying involvement in a lawsuit brought against the NFL by some former players including ex-Bucs, his name had been mistakenly included in the class action suit.

Selmon appalled his name is linked to lawsuit.

He was a very likeable and friendly man, I had the opportunity to see him and his brother quite often during the time they were trying to get their first business adventure off the ground, the family brand of BBQ sauce. I was working at a local grocery chain at the time and they would deliver and stock the product themselves, visiting around the store with employees and shoppers. Eventually, he launched his own restaurant chain.

He was one of the finest defensive linemen of his era. He will be missed.
    Condolences to family and friends.
