Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
It was not because of Vince Young we finished the season 8-8 last season. Yeah I realize, he is freakishly athletic. He is a great runner, great speed and all that. But that is not gonna be suffice. We need a Brady type QB, Manning type not a Vince Young type. In the NFL you need a QB like them. Yeah its great to have someone with the speed of Young but we will not be a Super Bowl contending team, EVER until we get Young out of under center. Yeah, I'll give him some credit. He does find ways to HELP the team win but he is not the reason for the turn around last year. But, who knows maybe he will make me eat my words this season and ya know what? I would be more than happy to. Just please, stay away from the strip clubs.

I'm not a VY fan, but he is 26-13 as a starter. Probably had his best season of his career in those ten games. Sure they rely on Chris Johnson to win a lot of their games, but the Titans have historically relied on their RB's to keep them in games.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
Yes; He did have his best season in those ten games. Glad we're both not VY fans. Just one last thing I want to say about him before we move on.. In his 1 playoff game, his stats were; 16 of 29 passes for 138 yards, 1 interception and 12 rushing yards for a 53.5 passer rating.
In other news.. Percy Harvin collapsed today at practice. Lets hope he is okay.

Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin collapsed at the team’s Winter Park facility Thursday while watching practice and was loaded into an ambulance.
Harvin, who has suffered from severe migraines, was not on the field for the start of practice. He was seen talking to head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman outside the locker room at Winter Park and then jogged onto the field to watch practice. A few minutes later, Harvin vomited and then fell to the ground.
Practice continued as the team’s medical staff tended to him. After about 10 minutes, a police car and ambulance from the Hennepin County Medical Center arrived and EMTs tended to Harvin as practice stopped and players watched.
Harvin missed two weeks of training camp while dealing with migraines after the death of his grandmother. Harvin has suffered from severe migraines since he was 10. He missed a number of practices and one game last season, his rookie season, while dealing with them. Harvin said the severe effects include vomiting and loss of vision.
Harvin was scheduled to talk to reporters Thursday for the first time since he left training camp in Mankato on Aug. 1. The team held a prayer on the field while he was worked on by EMTs inside the ambulance.

This is the NFL. Not the quarterback competition.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
He was mostly pretty good with a sub-par group of receivers, except for back to back clunkers against the Dolphins and Chargers.

Where were any QB competitions mentioned? Or any Super Bowl rings? We were just having a difference in opinion for VY.

It's implied when you credit VY with "his" win/loss record.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
He deserves some credit. The only real change the titans made when they started off hopeless to finishing decent was replacing Moses with Vince Young. 0-6 vs. 8-2 is fairly dramatic considering. No, I'm not labeling Young as a savior or the next great thing, but he's a quality QB when his head is on straight.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
then credit him for his play and not his team's record.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
He doesnt play well, The Titans lose. He is not a savior but damn when he doesn't play well they are bad.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
I think you can say that about any team's starting QB.
That doesn't make Vince Young a good QB. It just proves that he plays an important position.
I'm not trying to say he sucks, but at the same time I have a big pet peeve with crediting one guy on a team sport with wins and losses no matter how important his position is.
Should Vince Young get some of the credit? of course. But I think it's a stretch to say "Vince Young is 26-13 as a starter" because that implies that Vince Young, and Vince Young alone, is responsible for that record.
It also implies that they couldn't have gone 26-13 over the same set of games with anyone else, such as Kerry Collins who they went 13-3 under just two years ago.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
He finds ways to win. That's all I'm saying.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
that's a cheap out to the argument, though.
he "finds ways to win". Ok, but how?
that's just an indirect way of blindly attributing his team's win loss record solely to him.
Re: 2010 NFL Random Randoms Thread
I forgot to add in the last post that crediting VY alone with the record also implies he'd have the same record with any roster, even the Browns or Lions.

What was Mike Vick's record in Atlanta? QB records are like Wins-Losses for pitchers they don't neccessarily tell the whole truth. I mean Jimmy Haynes once won 15 games for the Reds. They believe Young puts them in a better position to win. So be it.
