Tigers Edwin Jackson on the trade block again

Sources: Tigers open to trading All-Star Jackson - MLB News - FOX Sports on MSN

    Now?

The Tigers have made Jackson available on the trade market as part of an effort to alleviate their payroll crunch, multiple major league sources told FOXSports.com

Jackson went 13-9 with a career-best 3.62 ERA and 214 innings. But he faded in August and September, compiling a 5.83 ERA over his last 11 starts as Detroit's seemingly insurmountable lead in the American League Central whittled away.
The 5.83 ERA down the finish can be taken to mean that Jackson crashed back down to earth. But if there's ever a time to make up for the time he was traded him for Danys Baez and Lance Carter...

Couldn't his collapse be due to fatigue? 214 innings is the most he has thrown in his professional career. Of course his ERA increasing month by month isn't a great sign though either.

Even without his collapse in the second half, he walked a bunch of guys. He wasn't as good as a ERA, so dealing him and using a more consistent starter would be better.

I don't think he will revert back to shitty Jackson, not after having added a curveball as an "out" pitch and having more command of his fastball. But yeah, because all those walks eventually catch up to him, he could very well become one of those pitchers with a great first half and a second half collapse, year in and year out.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mariners are in talks with the Tigers about a trade involving right-hander Edwin Jackson.

Jackson went 13-9 this season with a 3.62 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 33 starts. He'd be a great addition to any rotation and especially in the spacious confines of Safeco Field. He made $2.3 million in 2009 via salary arbitration and, as Heyman points out, is due for a substantial raise.
Not sure who the M's would have to give up for Jackson but he would be welcomed to fill in behind King Felix. M's made big strides last year but now are without Bedard and Washburn so they need someone to help replace them.

Brandon Morrow has been mentioned as a possible trade bait.
