Tigers | Bonderman likely to be shut down by elbow injury
Sun, 9 Sep 2007 16:28:10 -0700 Updating previous items, The Detroit Free Press' Jon Paul Morosi reports Detroit Tigers SP Jeremy Bonderman (elbow) may be lost for the rest of the season after he felt a "sharp pain" on the outside of his pitching elbow during an injury-shortened start Sunday, Sept. 9. Bonderman, who left in the second inning after giving up six earned runs, was to have an MRI exam later in the day. "I'm done for awhile," said Bonderman, who also felt the injury was similar to lateral elbow soreness he experienced two years ago that limited him to just two September starts. Bonderman also said he is "scared" and "nervous" about the pending results of the MRI exam.
That has to suck for the Tigers. He's been really good for them this season.

I heard about this on Baseball tonight on ESPN, and thought, wow, what a huge blow to the Tigers stretch run here in September. Verlander will most certainly need to step up even more.

Terrible for the Tigers but great for the Yankees.
