DENVER -- All-Star closer Brian Fuentes and the Colorado Rockies agreed to a $5.5 million, two-year contract on Monday.
Fuentes, who had been eligible for salary arbitration, was a bright spot in Colorado's bullpen last season, earning 31 saves. The last-place Rockies blew 26 save chances, the second-highest total in the NL.
Entering his sixth major league season, Fuentes will earn $2 million next year and $3.5 million in 2007. The left-hander went 2-5 last season with a 2.91 ERA in 78 appearances.
