MLB Top 100 prospects of 2010

The Top 100 Prospects of 2010: 1-25 -- MLB FanHouse

Written by Frankie Piliere, a former MLB pro scout.

Interested to see Jesus Montero so high up on the list, he's usually a bit more around 25. But that makes me happy.

Also, if you'd like, Piliere wrote a scouting report on Pat Venditte, the switch pitcher in the Yankees minor leagues, for the LoHud blog. It's here

Watch out for Casey Kelly next year even, his stuff is electric and now that hes focusing on pitching full time the results could be scary

It makes me cringe every time I look through these lists. Where did it all go wrong for us?

Surprised to see Pedro Alvarez all the way up to 13. There's nothing the Pirates need more than a couple of young impact bats, and he could be the start. The Pirates new management has actually gotten them into a decent position, one that is much better than it was a couple of years ago. The only question is whether or not ownership will spend the money down the road to make and keep the team a contender. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that it's even a question..
