Reds take Yonder Alonso, 1B from Miami, 6'2, 215, one of the better hitters in the draft, really light feet, tremendous balance, an A-Rod protege!

Scouts say he's only a 1B. Reds take the best player available despite having Votto.

I am happy with this pick. I don't think many Reds fans will be happy with us skipping on Gordon Beckham, but I think Yonder is the better talent to be honest. Great pick Reds!

Nationals took Aaron Crow, RHP from Missouri, elite slider, great fastball topping at 98 mph, 43 inning scoreless streak and he's 13-0.

I am not too sure after 10. I missed just now though.

Crow is one I wanted the Reds to stay away from because of his mechanics. He makes my arm hurt when I see his videos. But he still has a great ability to get hitters out with nasty stuff.

Jason Castro baffled me to the Stros right now.

    Re: Draft play-by-play

Astros took Jason Castro, C from Stanford, not to be confused with the Jason Castro of American Idol fame. Needs to learn to handle pitchers, but he's smart, 6'3, 215.

They're saying that there is a big drop off at catcher after Castro, no one worth drafting until the late 2nd round.

Smoak is still available; huge 1B bat that switch-hits. Projects to be something like Lance Berkman.

What they just said about Catchers and Left handed pitching being at a minimum in the draft kinda reminds me of the SIM drafts.

Smoak goes to Texas. Steve Phillips says he's a Mark Teixeira-clone with gold glove caliber, huge numbers from both sides of the plate. Gammons says he reminds him of Chipper Jones.

    Not anymore

The announcers were comparing him to Mark Tiexierra (sp?) and Chipper Jones.
