    2007 Draft

Not much out there, especially compared to last year. Best two players have to be David Price and Matt Wieters. Thoughts?

The draft class isn't as good this year?

It would figure it'd be a weak class when the Padres have a plethora of top round picks.

Isn't the draft supposed to be aired this year? I heard it somewhere but cannot remember if it was true or not. Can anyone confirm this?

I haven't looked at too many potential prospects in this year's draft, but I better start getting into it soon. Does anyone have a solid date as to when the draft will be heald?

    Re: 2007 Draft

Scout.com has a mock draft already started:

    Scout.com: 2007 Draft: Mid-Season First Round Projection

David Price going no. 1 to the D-Rays. Pretty much sounds like this guy is a lock for the first overall pick. Vanderbilt is nasty this year and Price is leading them through a great season.

Check out the link everyone and see what they have your team picking up.

Personally, I am not sold on the Reds getting another outfielder. I can't find stats on Jason Heyward, so I can't judge it. But I still don't see it wise for us to be looking at more outfielders. Not with pitchers like Joe Savery still on the board.

OK sweet, I just found it as well.

I am excited about this year's draft, but it does seem a bit weaker then recent year's memory as MF87 mentioned.

Looks like Matt Dominguez makes the draft before his older brother, Jason.

Ugh... I'm sure the O's will make a good pick in the first round, but I'm still pissed that they lost their 2nd and 3rd rounders by signing Chad Bradford and Danys Baez. Then they didn't recoup one of them by not offering LaTroy Hawkins arbitration even though they knew he was going to sign with the Rockies. This team needs to commit to a rebuilding effort and can't afford to lose draft picks.

I'm not sure which pick it was, but yeah, the Braves got a pick from us for Danys Baez. We are such a joke of a franchise.

MLB draft to be televised live for first time
    May 7, 2007

NEW YORK (TICKER) -- The Major League Baseball draft is headed to television for the first time.

MLB announced Monday that ESPN2 will offer live coverage of the draft on June 7.

The draft, which will originate from Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, will be televised from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. EDT.

The first round will be aired in its entirety and clubs will have a maximum of five minutes to make their selection. The first day of the event lasts until 8:30 p.m., but television coverage will end 2 1/2 hours earlier.

The second day of the draft will not be televised. The draft has 50 rounds and will conclude after all 30 teams have passed on a selection or after the final selection of the 50th round, which ever comes first.

Owing the first pick in the draft is the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The the San Francisco Giants will be making three first-round selections. The Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays have two picks apiece in the opening round.

    Re: 2007 Draft

No love out there for the King Of Pop? MICHAEL BURGESS. This kid is good, the best power hitting prospect in the draft. Solid outfielder as well, playing with Hillsborough High a school known for some of the big leaguers the've produced. Sheff, Gooden, and Dukes to name a few.

I hope Texas drafts this kid, or even the Blue Jays I dont care...
