Not even close. Ortiz, Manny, and A-Rod are all FAR ahead of Hafner.

Not even right. Hafner is right up there. Arod is not even the MVP of his own team. Hafner will lose some points for missing parts of the year. Indians are 14-9 when Hafner is not in the lineup. Hafner is doing everything that Ortiz is for his team and has a lot less protection. But they are DH's and it is a shitty year for Awards once again in the AL.

Ortiz and Manny will "steal" votes from each other...neither deserves it IMHO either

So we've decided in this thread that A-Rod isn't even the MVP of his own team and Manny and Ortiz don't deserve the MVP. So who the hell are we giving it to?

All three are having great seasons and I wouldn't have a problem with any of them.

I'd give it to pay-rod before Shrek and Manny...especially if the Sox miss the playoffs...

Even with Arod's great numbers, The Yankees were in fourth place in May. When Giambi started hitting, the Yankees started winning even with the horrid starting pitching. Giambi was leading all of MLB in OBP. Giambi is the MVP of that Yankee team. That right there makes me say no to Arod on MVP.

So we're going to penalize A-Rod for being great all year, as opposed to Giambi being great for half a year? Give me a break.

Not penalizing him at all. Its about being the MVP, not the best player. I made my point very clear.

You made it clear that your point was stupid. If A-Rod sucked once Giambi got hot then the Yanks are still looking up at the Red Sox. He's been the best hitter on that team all year.

Yea, it's been him all year by himeself and with some help...while Shrek and Manny have had each other the whole year...both have over 40 homers/100 RBIs...how could you pick one over the other? I'd give it to Pay-Rod, Hafner, or Vlad before either of those clowns. That being said, Vlad has done it all year for the Angels without much support (Finley has been a flop, Anderson has been hurt, Glaus left)...I'd give it to Vlad just to make it 11 years in a row the AL West has won the MVP

How was my point stupid? With Arod's huge numbers, they were nowhere in May. The Giambi got hot and made that lineup better. Where exactly are you getting lost? You say that if Arod sucked then the Yanks would be looking up and I can say the same about if Giambi continued to suck. The point is extremely valid.
