The Indians will hold a press conference Wednesday to officially announce Asdrubal Cabrera's new two-year contract extension.
The Indians and Cabrera agreed to a two-year, $16.5 million extension over the weekend. The new deal runs from 2013-2014 and covers his final year of arbitration and his first year of free agency. The 26-year-old shortstop is coming off a breakthrough season in which he batted .273/.332/.460 with 25 homers, 92 RBI and 17 stolen bases.
I'm surprised they didn't go longer but getting a year of free agency is good. I don't think he will do as well as last year but still think he is a good SS and a key to any Indians success.
