    Indians deal Cora for Vazquez

In exchange for Cora, the Indians picked up infielder Ramon Vazquez and some payroll flexibility. Like Cora, Vazquez bats left-handed. He appeared in 27 games for the Red Sox before they optioned him Monday to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Shapiro said the 28-year-old Vazquez would report to Triple-A Buffalo....

...Shapiro said Cora's place on the roster would go to left-hander pitcher Brian Tallet, who was called up last month before heading back to Buffalo. Tallet will give the Tribe an extra arm in the rotation for the Yankees series.

Not a bad trade. We get rid of some salary and get a guy thats pretty much equal back. Hopefully Tallet will pitch well and move into the rotation.

Seems like the trade was pretty much made to give Indians more flexibility. IIRC, Cora is known for his defense which is the reason why Sox most likely made the trade.

Good trade for both sides I think. Cora may help out as a defensive replacement like GoYankees suggested. And I like that the Indians are freeing up some money. With rumors floating around that they may be in the market for an outfielder, this could only help.

Could free up money for an OF or SP as a previous poster said in another thread.
