Indians claimed RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu off waivers from the Padres.

Indians placed RHP Jake Westbrook on the 60-day disabled list following Tommy John surgery.

Westbrook might be one of the biggest pitching busts in a long time. He had that one really good season but after that he really never did anything.

I assume the Indians are going to have Laporta start in AA and maybe make it to the majors as a September call-up? Also will the Indians move Garko/Hafner to a contender needing a bat at the deadline?

Why would the Indians move Hafner at the deadline when they are going to be in the thick of the race. I can see Garko because his playing time will be cut with Martinez playing mostly first.

It was a left thumb injury that slowed David Dellucci at the beginning of Spring Training camp, and it's a tight left calf muscle that's slowing him here in the final week.

The latter injury could have implications on the Indians' Opening Day roster. If Dellucci's calf doesn't respond well to treatment, his spot on that roster could be in jeopardy, and the Indians might have to recall Trevor Crowe, who was just optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
