    Renaming Jacobs Field

At the end of the Cleveland Indians postseason, the Tribe's front office will be looking into what to rename the stadium that the baseball team plays in.

At the end of the 2006 baseball season, the naming rights former Indians owner Richard "Dick" Jacobs had bought when they started construction. The rights were supposed to run through 2014, but when he sold the team in 2000to Larry Dolan part of the agreement was that the rights would end after the 2006 season.

They decided to leave it alone in 2007, but this will indeed be the last year that the stadium is knows as Jacobs Field.

I really hope they don't go and let some company buy the naming rights to it. I can just see it now: Key Bank Stadium.

I'd much rather have it stay Jacobs Field forever. But that won't happen, so I hope they name it something like Cleveland Stadium or Cleveland Indians Stadium.

Everyone will still call it The Jake, it doesn't matter what corporation buys the rights.

"The Cleveland Indians Field" = "The Ohio State Buckeyes" hahaha...

That drives me bonkers when ex-players from Ohio St. say that..

they should definitely sell the rights, make some extra money. Only a handful of stadiums around MLB have names that are not corporately sponsored: Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, not many left indeed. Time for Cleveland to join the party.

I'm disappointed that the Dolan family decided not to rename the park after themselves.

Actually the proper name is The Ohio State University, the players are just calling it by the school's proper name.

It is still annoying!! But I was kinda making fun of it too, but you already figured that out too.

Some of the names I thought of first as a joke were ethnically improper, and after thinking about, my senses came through. I didnt want to offend anyone's race or ethnicity in poor taste and have bad judgement.

I guess I wouldn't get too pissed of Key Bank bought the naming rights, I mean we do have the Key Bank building in downtown with that huge red key on it.
