Just simulated the Reds 2006 season

using MLB 06: The Show. I did NOT play any of the games.

    The lineup looked like this:

    1) Freel - 2B
    2) Lopez - SS
    3) Griffey - CF
    4) Dunn - LF
    5) Kearns - RF
    6) Encarnacion - 3B
    7) Hatteberg/Cruz - 1B
    8) LaRue/Valentin - C
    9) Pitcher

    The rotation looked like this:

    1) Harang
    2) Milton
    3) Arroyo
    4) Claussen
    5) Williams

    The bullpen looked like this:

    1) Wilson - Long Relief
    2) Belisle - MR
    3) Mercker - MR
    4) Hammond - MR
    5) Wagner - Setup
    6) Weathers - Closer

    The bench looked like this:

    1) Hatteberg/Cruz - IF
    2) Valentin/LaRue - C
    3) Machado - SS
    4) Olmedo - 2B
    5) Womack - Util
    6) Aurilia - Util/DH

I made NO trades throughout the season. The results were:

The Reds finished at 95-67, winning the NL Central by 6 games over the Cardinals.

    Significant hitters notes:

Griffey injured his shoulder in July, missing 2 months. He hit .317 with 19 homers.
Dunn hit .325 with 42 homers.
Kearns hit .289 with 31 homers.
Encarnacion hit .265 with 25 homers.
Lopez hit .308 with 26 homers.

    Significant pitchers notes:

    Harang went 12-12 with a 3.50 ERA and 211 K's in 218.2 IP
    Milton went 11-9 with a 4.52 ERA and 143 K's, giving up 30 HR's in 187 IP
    Arroyo went 12-7 with a 4.48 ERA and 125 K's in 189 IP
    Claussen went 15-5 with a 4.28 ERA and 128 K's in 180.2 IP
    Williams went 7-12 with a 4.94 ERA and 129 K's in 164 IP
    Wilson went 11-3 with a 4.71 ERA and 60 K's in 91.2 IP
    Weathers saved 52 games, going 2-5 with a 3.29 ERA and 57 K's in 63 IP.

I was doubting the simulation at first because of the 95-67 record, but it looks like it knows what it's talking about. Wow.

Dunn was the MVP of the Reds, not the league.

Right. General, you'd be happy to know that the Reds were eliminated from the playoffs by your Braves, which lost in the World Series to the A's.

well, get a way to simulate the 05 season and have it come out exactly how the real season did, then go and simluate the 06 season.. no way this team wins more than 82 games.. not to mention that game didn't take into account how many times(or rather lack of times freel leads off) we are stuck with Womack and Aurillia in the lineup

Prov, ain't that ironic..Braves and A's in the WS, the two teams that can't win in the playoffs.

ironic? no...the A's have the 2nd most WS championships tied with STL...both are behind the Yanks, so the A's have won a lot more than the Braves. And the Braves have lost a lot more as they've won 1 in the last 13 or 14 trips...that's pretty crappy. 0 - 4 vs. 1 - 14...the one is nice (over 10 years ago), but 0 - 4 just needs to win 1 next time and it's a better percentage.

Still, Moneyball and Booby Cox are known to plunder in the playoffs. Ancient history notwithstanding, we're considered chokers.

considering the A's weren't supposed to be there because of payroll and the Braves had one of the highest during that time, no.
