    Coffey Promoted

Coffey was promoted from Louisville today and will of course be taking Oritz' roster spot. Ortiz is eligible to pitch again on the 24th, since his DL stint is retroactive to the 9th.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

Hopefully this is to push Weathers to either to get it going or get out of the way.

I like it as well. He is deserving and I hope to see an inning from him tonight.

I'd love to see a game this year with Valentine, then Coffey, then Wagner closing it out.

I really can't wait to see Coffey, I have never seen him pitch actually. And do they expect Ortiz to pitch soon after the DL? It's nothing serious is it??

Yep. The Reds told him basically to get in shape or get out and he got in shape. Having that kind of determination is very telling of his character and work ethic.

I think Ortiz will be back pretty soon.

Weber/Weathers came up big tonight though.

I think that is something we wouldn't have seen last year. I don't think Van Poppel/Matthews/Norton/Reith and the like would have shut the door like they did tonight.

They are good when on... just really bad when not.

So very true. Our BP looks a lot better these days vs. last year that is for sure.

Remember though early on Van Poppel pitched well, even when he first became a starter. It wasnt til later he feel apart with the rest of that mess we had. It isnt fair to put Van Poppel in the same state as those jokes.

It isn't fair to put Van Poppel in the same state as Reith/Norton, etc. you mean? I agree if you say that... although his career numbers aren't good.

If you're referring to Weathers/Weber... I don't agree. Their career numbers are better than his. (I don't think you're referring to them though)

I was saying in retrospect to the other guys we had in our pen last year. Van Poppel and Reidling at one point were the only guys we had that could do anything other than cause us Reds fans to

I know he wasnt seen tonight but I hope Coffey performs well while he has a spot of tea in Cincy.

Id look for him, Wagner, Valentine, and Graves to be about it for rested pitchers...
