EdE just made an error that allowed a run to score, so i'm sure the debate has just concluded in narron's head. A veteran would have made that play, so the choice is obvious.

i've been reading some red sox boards and everyone up here is equally pissed at francona's love for veterans. I wonder what it is about all these managers. I mean, i'm sure there's something to what they're talking about, but there just seems to be such an incongruity with GMs. All the GMs are clinging to prospects more and more as teams like the twins have shown you can compete with a good farm system, but managers keep refusing to play the prospects in favor of wiley washed up vets.

i am just about ready for the bandwagon, I really hope that this Spring means something, because if it does, wow, just wow... but i will wait until the regular season before i jump on the bandwagon.

Yep. He hit a long HR off Ian Snell of the Pirates in the 2nd inning. Two-run HR I believe.

I just hope he saves some for the regular season. Kearns had a crazy spring last year and then immediately collapsed when the seasons started.

One thing we have to say though. He may be tearing into pitchers that are just getting started. Although he did hit a few off The Unit and Radke. That is something that is never easy to do.

"He's showing he's a little bit better hitter than that," Narron said. "I think he's going to be a middle of the order guy, I really do. You're talking about a young kid here. He's got some growing to do. The big thing is if he's going to be an RBI guy that drives in runs from the middle of the order, that's something we have to find out."
