Stratton should be on the ball club. Cruz needs to go soon. Everytime he makes an out now I am going to be on his case But seriously, Stratton is going to destroy AAA pitching, we need to find out now if he can play with the big boys.

I remember that Stratton almost hit one out in the eighth as well. He is hitting the ball hard. I agree that he should be the first called up. I honestly believe that Cruz made the team because he swings the bat from the other side of the plate. he has been the number 1 used pinch hitter so far and could be looked at as the go to guy. But I do not think it is the case. Miley is using him in a righty vs. lefty situation. A lefty bat specialist if you will. We will see if it ends up working out at all. But for now Stratton looks really promising.

I agree redsrbetter. He used Cruz Wednesday night for that situation alone. To me thats too much like Boone. We have some good hitters on the bench like Pena, Freel, even Lopez(who could be our LH spec) and he uses Cruz just for the matchup. The best hitters we have should be on the bench and taking the PH. I guess we will have to wait to see what happens.

I agree that we do have greater players and am in hopes that Miley will see soon.

    Dragons tales

    • Pitcher Rafael Gonzalez had to be removed in the seventh when Emilio Bonafacio's line drive ricocheted off his right leg to score a run.

    • When Ramirez couldn't make it through the fifth inning, he had to be replaced by reliever Zac Stott, who got the inning's last out. In the tandem system the Reds are using for their lower minor league teams, two starters are designated for each game, with the second starter expected to start an inning.

Homer Bailey, the Reds' No. 1 pick in the draft last summer, was to start today's game, but the Dayton staff felt he needed a couple extra days to get ready. He'll pitch Sunday's getaway game. Bailey is being tandemed with Brad Morenko.

Camilio Vazquez will start today's game, with Damian Ursin the "piggyback" starter.

any idea why Stratton didn't start last night (other than the manager didn't want him to)
