DanO would get confused about a big mac...

"Didn't he pitch for the Cards a few years ago? He gave up a LOT of HRs, I willnot do it."

Not even knowing that we were talking about the famous burger at Mickey D's. And not even knowing that Big Mac smacked a lot of HRs as a 1B vs. giving them up as a pitcher.

We have entered the Dark Ages Reds fans. These last two days have throughly disgusted me and killed any hope I have for the next 5 yrs. Anyone know the address for the Reds HQ, I want to start writing them begging them to fire O'Brien and not let him bastardize this team to a sixth place finish with no hope for the future cause that is where we are using.

I bet AA across the tri-state is liking O'Brien a lot. So are the cops.

DALLAS -- Officially, the Reds have acquired Tony Womack from the Yankees for minor leaguers Kevin Howard and Ben Himes. The Reds will also get cash.

You know all about Howard -- who obviously was not judged a necessary building block by the Reds' braintrust -- so I'll save the stats. Himes, the Reds' ninth-round pick in 2003, hit .255 in 27 games for Dayton last year, then went off and hit .320 in 71 games for Sarasota. Not much power, though -- Himes has 28 homers in 250 career games.

Womack, 36, is a former All-Star (1997) who previously played for the Cardinals, Cubs, Rockies, Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh. He's due to make $2 million this year.

OK. I've defended Dan O'Brien in the past... no longer.

    Tony Womack... OK, screw it.

Narron sounding as clueless as O'Brien:

"He's been a winner and he's played in those situations. He plays the game the right way and he gives us some speed on the basepaths to go along with Freel."

When Freel subs in of course since Womack will win the "competition" in spring training. But why start Freel? Womack is a good defender, faster, can get on-base at a high rate, slug at a higher %, and is younger..... er, I forgot that we're not in Bizarro World.

Castellini, O'Brien, and Narron. If that's not the three stooges, I don't know who is. And yes, I am including the new owner because you know he is signing off on these behind the scenes.

if he comes in and immediately proceeds to return to 2004 form then we got a pretty good player. Thats best case scenario, we are going to be battling the freaking ROYALS at this rate instead of the Cards.

36 year old infielders don't typically bounce back and produce like their career year, which even if it was a career year was lame in comparison to most players. It's not like Freel can do any better, oh wait, he can.
