Liriano was the breaking point on a potential trade for Alfonso Soriano, and if they were to give up Liriano, they wanted a guy like Kevin Mench and more.

Really, only Dunn will suffice for Liriano (who has some of the most amazing stuff I've seen in years), and do the Reds want to risk giving up a constant 40 HR/100 RBI/high OBP player who is young and talented (and who may want to be in Cincy if the ownership doesn't do anything stupid) for a pitching prospect who is fantastic, but who knows how good he'll be.
