Thumbs Down Madson done for season, Tommy John surgery

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Ryan Madson will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
An examination by team medical Dr. Tim Kremcheck revealed that the ligament in his elbow was ''torn off of the bone,'' and could not be repaired without surgery. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay, the Reds do not have insurance on Madson's $8.5 million contract and will look to replace him in-house with Sean Marshall likely to close. Aroldis Chapman is also set to open the year in the bullpen.
Quite the blow. Back to the bullpen for Chapman. Let the mass fantasy pickups of Marshall begin.

    Jason DeLisi ‏ @WallacesOwner
@keithlaw Still think the only loser in the Phillies/Papelbon/Madson mess from this off-season are the Phillies? #InsiderArticle #TommyJohn

    keithlaw ‏ @keithlaw
@WallacesOwner yes, actually. They still face overpaying Papelbon for four years.

    LOL.

Congrats on your closers role Sean Marshall. But I will put this Nick Masset will lose double didget games. My guess is he gets the setup role and blows a ton of games.

Damn, that was $8 million down the drain. Good thing they didn't go long term. Scott Boras doesn't always get his way
