I have a feeling this will be a 3 game sweep.

Well, it looks like we SHOULD hit this guy...

Then again, this IS the Reds we are talking about. They are more unpredictable than the weather.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

Good call CRF. Especially with Ortiz going today. You never know how many runs the Reds may need today.

Aurilia will hit 2nd for the rest of the year now, even though his July numbers have been awful.

Why don't they start Ray Olmedo??

Give him a chance, look at what he has done when he got up here. All the deserving young players that do an awesome job get overlooked. Chris Booker, Austin Kearns and Ray Olmedo. But then we have an aging shortstop who won't be here after this year, starting over a guy like Olmedo.

Have Olmedo lead off until Freel gets back. Lopez is better suited as a two-hitter, methinks, and Olmedo has great speed. He's also better defensively than Aurilia.

Meanwhile, the Reds had an awesome 6th inning while I was on the John. Casey and Griffey had solo homers, and Valentin hit a grand slam. Ortiz gave up a two-run homer in the 7th, but the Reds are up 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th right now.

Casey grounding into an inning-ending double play? Glad to see that he's back to normal. With a strikeout, a near-homer, and an actual homer, I was getting worried.

Griffey is starting to scare pitchers. He's walked a ton lately...

Reds win the game 9-4 and get the sweep. Four games against the Cubs coming up, and we need to at least split. I want to see a win in this series, though it'll be tough.

The MVP is easily Valentin. Anytime you get 7 ribbies from your backup catcher, you know something nice is happening.

All in all, this is the kind of series we needed to kick off the second part of the year. If we do good enough the rest of the month, the imprending firesale should be stopped and that's always nice.

Nice win! I can't believe we completed the sweep! Well we got the Rockies back for their beating us in the same fashion in Colorado. Big bats again today prove to be a huge factor in this win. Very nice way to start off the second half of the season.

    MVP: Valentin
