Reds Volquez names Opening Day starter

Edinson Volquez will start on Opening Day for the Reds.
The announcement was made Tuesday morning in spring camp. Bronson Arroyo had the better 2010 season, but Volquez is now recovered from Tommy John surgery and ready to re-stake his claim as one of the National League's nastiest starters. He finished with a 4.31 ERA over 62-plus innings last season and is set to earn $1.6 million this year in his first year of arbitration.
I'm really surprised it wasn't Arroyo or Cueto after the years they had. I like Volquez and do think he has the better stuff but has only pitched 62+ innings coming back from surgery. Reds have a deep rotation and should remain on top or near the top of the Central.

I'm curious to see if the pitching staff can recreate what they did last season.

The staff is going to be strong again IMO. Homer Bailey, who has quietly become the pitcher many were expecting him to be (or at least close to it) will likely be the 4th starter and Travis Wood will battle it out with Mike Leake for the last spot. Finishing out your rotation with guys like that isn't bad at all, especially with the potential of Chapman maybe getting some starts later in the season (speculating here.)
