    Reds Ramon Will Be Back

    Reds re-signed C Ramon Hernandez to a one-year contract.
Terms were not disclosed. Hernandez, 34, batted .297/.364/.428 with seven homers and 48 RBI over 313 at-bats this past season, while throwing out 34 percent of would-be basestealers. Ryan Hanigan has probably surpassed him as the team's top catcher, but they form a pretty effective tandem.
I like that they brought him back. Hanigan will most likely get the majority of the starts but Hernandez is a damn good guy to help share the load. It worked last year and see it being even more successful in '11. I'm sure its not for a lot of money so good work from Jocketty.

Hernandez gives a good AB, and Hannigan could certainly regress next year, so this was a smart insurance move and one that makes our bench deeper.

It looks like the deal is worth $3 million so the Reds get two good catchers for the price of one decent catcher.
